It’s almost that time of year when our Saturday nights are filled with sequins, spray tans and spectacular dance routines as the 12th Series of Strictly Come Dancing begins. Over the years we’ve seen some fabulous celebrities waltz their way to the top, including Abbey Clancy, Kara Tointon and Harry Judd and we just can’t decide who might tango away with the Strictly Glitter ball this year!
Alison Hammond
Partnered with Aljaž Skorjanec (Winner of 2013 Series with Abbey Clancy), it would be safe to say Alison Hammond looks like a strong contender in 2014. The 39 year old TV Presenter is used to working on live TV as she is currently a live fixture on This Morning, she is no stranger to competition having appeared on Hell’s Kitchen, Celebrity Big Brother and our personal favourite Celebrity Coach Trip.
Caroline Flack
Famed for her part in presenting the Xtra Factor and being romantically linked to the likes of Prince Harry and Harry Styles of One Direction, Caroline Flack is sure to wow on the dance floor. Partnered with Pasha Kovalev who made the final in 2011 with Waterloo Road’s Chelsee Healey, the 34 year old from Norfolk looks in good hands.
Frankie Bridge
Known for making up one fifth of the Saturdays and previous to that an eighth of S Club 8, 25 year old Frankie Bridge is likely to be a strong dancer coming from a music/dance background. Partnered with Kevin Clifton who in 2013 took Susanna Reid to the final, Frankie is sure to sailing her way through the live shows.
Gregg Wallace
If you are a fan of MasterChef then Gregg Wallace will be no stranger to you, famous for putting celebrities through their paces in the kitchen, Gregg is trying something completely new with Strictly. The 49 year old joked that he should of let judge Craig Revel Horwood win when he appeared on Masterchef in 2007, though we’re not sure he needs to worry with professional dancer Aliona Vilani at his side.
Jake Wood
EastEnders actor Jake Wood, famous for playing car dealer Max Branning is joining the world of sequins, glitter and glamour a far cry away from the streets of Walford. The 42 year old is following in the footsteps of other EastEnders cast members including Jessie Wallace, Patsy Palmer and Scott Maslen. Jake is partnered with American dancer Jeanette Manara, we’re sure she’ll have him whipped into shape!
Jennifer Gibney
Fans of BAFTA winning Mrs Brown’s Boys will know exactly who Jennifer Gibney is, married to Brendan O’Carroll (aka. Mrs Brown) Jennifer is known for playing Cathy. The 50 year old actress has been partnered with Irishman Tristan MacManus and by the sounds of things they are getting on like a house of fire!
Judy Murray
Usually spotted cheering on her sons Jamie and Andy Murray at Tennis Championships, Judy is taking a huge leap in joining the glitzy world of Strictly. The 55 year old Tennis Coach has been partnered with Strictly original Anton du Beke, we can’t wait to is Judy aces her dances and joins her son in a major UK final!
Mark Wright
Partnered with Karen Hauer, Mark Wright is bound to be on top form for the live shows of Strictly Come Dancing. 27 year old Mark originally found fame after appearing in the Only Way in Essex, but soon won over the British hearts during the 2011 I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, when he came runner up to McFly’s Dougie Poynter.
Pixie Lott
Singer-songwriter Pixie Lott has already had a lot of success in the UK Music Charts despite being aged just 23. With three top 10 albums and three UK Number 1 Singles, we have very high hopes on Pixie. Partnered with fellow blonde Trent Whiddon who is new to Strictly this year. We definitely think these two will be ones to watch!
Scott Mills
If you listen to Radio 1 then you are bound to know Scott Mills, one of the longest serving Radio 1 Presenters. The 40 year old has been partnered with the newest female professional dancer Joanne Clifton who is sure to whip Scott into shape!
Simon Webbe
Singer-songwriter Simon Webbe shot to fame in the early noughties as one quarter of boyband Blue. Selling 10 million records worldwide and 3.3. million albums in the UK, Blue and it’s members quickly became household names. The 36 year old has been partnered with Kristina Rihanoff who won the 2010 series when partnered with Mark Ramprakash.
Steve Backshall
Multi BAFTA winning Steve Backshall has been partnered with Strictly favourite Ola Jordan for series 12 of Strictly Come Dancing. Famous for appearing in CBBC’s Deadly 60 we’re sure viewers young and old will enjoy watching this 41 year old strut his stuff on the dancefloor.
Sunetra Sarker
Swapping her stethoscope for spandex and sequins, Sunetra Sarker is a regular on Saturday night television having appeared as Dr Zoe Hanna in Casualty for the past few years. The 41 year old actress has been partnered with firm favourite Brendan Cole and could give the other contestants a run for their money.
Thom Evans
Former rugby player and model Thom Evans has got all the girls hearts racing as he joins Strictly dancing with Iveta Lukosiute. The 29 year old was forced to retire from rugby following a severe neck injury and now has plenty to prove.
Tim Wonnacott
Sure to be a firm favourite 63 year old Tim Wonnacott is a household name as presenter of the Antiques Roadshow. Partnered with Natalie Lowe, we think she’ll soon have him in a spin and maybe he will waltz his way to the top.
