It’s Magical at the Harry Potter Studio Tour!

Hogwarts Express Following it’s recent expansion, the Harry Potter Studio Tour makes a great attraction for the whole family. Caroline and Kelly from Door2Tour recently headed to the Studio to see what was new, here’s a recap of their trip!

We arrived to the Studios and were taken to a Cinema where they we watched a short video explaining the story of Harry Potter, the children then had the opportunity to open the impressive main doors to the Great Hall.  Some of original the costumes are displayed along the length of the set including the First Harry Potter Cloak which was used during the filming of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.  The tour continued and we saw a number of sets used during filming including Dumbledore’s Office, the Gryffindor Common Room, Hagrid’s Hut and the Weasley’s House. There was also a selection of props to see including a Nimbus 2000 broomstick.

Children visiting the Studio Tour are given a Passport to get stamped at different stages of the tour.  Later in the tour there is a chance to experience the Green Screen Technology with the opportunity to ride a Broomstick or fly in the Ford Anglia from book 2. There is an opportunity to purchase the photo and DVD to take home too.

The newest part of the tour and possibly the highlight is the new Platform 9¾ set, this part of the attraction gives you a chance to tour the Hogwarts Express and have your photograph taken with the luggage trolley going through the Platform wall. The carriage is set up with props from each of the films, including the carriage used when the Dementors searched then train for Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. There is also a chance to re-enact your train journey on the Hogwarts Express just as Harry did with a specially made Green Screen carriage.

In addition to the new Platform 9¾ set, the studio has been expanded to include a new restaurant area. There is a wide choice of food and drink including the famous Butterbeer and ginormous burgers.Platform 9 3/4

There is an outside part of the tour with the famous Knight Bus, The Ford Anglia, Hagrid’s flying Motorbike and side car which are perfect for photo opportunities. You can also have your photo taken outside the Dursley’s House, Number 4 Privet Drive.

The final part of the tour takes you back inside to the second studio where you have an opportunity to learn how creatures were brought to life with Green Screen Effects, animatronics and life-sized models. Walk along Diagon Alley and see the shop fronts including Eeylops Owl Emporium and Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes.

The final surprise is awaiting you around the last corner…

Your final stop on the Harry Potter Studio Tour is the Souvenir Shop, where you can purchase your very own Collectable wand!
