Coach Holidays: Keeping Yourself Entertained During the Long Rides

mobile-phoneSo you are planning to whisk off in a coach to Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Holland, or may be some other city in the UK itself. An awesome way to save on your travelling expenses. Plus, you get to enjoy so many breathtaking scenarios as you wind down the roads. And, let’s not forget the fact that you don’t have to make too many arrangements, other than book coach holidays to your favourite place! Yes, most tour operators like Door2Tour offer complete packages that include transport, accommodation, sightseeing, and often meals. So, there is not much for you to do, other than sit back, curl yourself up and enjoy your coach holidays!

That being said, let’s also keep in mind that coach holidays can often be long, though definitely not dull, as compared to other alternatives. So, how do you keep yourself occupied and entertained during all this time? Well, you could just look out of the window, and enjoy the stunningly beautiful landscapes, but when those views start to get mundane, here is what you can do!

Write your heart out

Do you like to write? Ever tried it before? If you love penning down every incident or day of your life, than there is no better place than a coach to do it. So, let’s get your creative juices flowing and capture all the amazing times that you have had till now in beautiful words.
What if writing doesn’t excite you? Well, look outside the windows, and try to find some inspiration in the magnificence of what lays beyond. Can you write now? Still no success? Forget the outside altogether, and just start on a blog post, a poem or even a fictional story. There is just no limit to what you can do with a pen.

Play offline phone games

Are you a fan of mobile phone games? Ever played one? Which ones are your favourite? We love Super Mario, Bejeweled Blitz, Battle Golf, Subway Surfers, Fruit Ninja and Beneath the Lighthouse. Download these and other games on your phone beforehand, and play them during the ride.
Trust us, they are so addictive, you wouldn’t even realise how much time has passed as you jab away on your phone screen. Want to make it a little more exciting? Play a game in which you can compete with your friends or fellow passengers. After all, the more the players, the more fun you’ll have. Keep playing!
Just one point: whichever games you download for playing on your phone, make sure that none of them use Wi-Fi – you may not always have it on the bus.

Strike a chord

While the journey during coach holidays can be long, you don’t embark on them alone. There are always so many others with you. Yes, most of them are strangers, but you can always strike a conversation, and get things going. Who knows, the stranger sitting seat next to you may turn out to be your best friend down the road.

Create a little piece of art

Got a love for crafts? Yes, we know, you wouldn’t be able to lay out all your paints and brushes while on a coach, but you can still do some crafts. Knit some sweaters or a sock, make something from clay or crochet a table mat.
And, you know you could even edit that incredible picture or selfie that you clicked on your phone, and set it as your display picture on your online profiles. Gosh, you’d look so hot and classy when done!

Listen to music

Music is always a great time pass. It soothes you and puts you at ease. So, lets’ add all your favourite numbers onto a playlist, lean backwards on the seat, put in your ear plugs and rake up the volume!

Watch some movie or series

Any movie or TV show that you couldn’t watch only because you couldn’t squeeze in any time? Save them all on your tablet now, and keep yourself rooted the whole while throughout the coach ride.

Learn a new language

Where are you travelling to? If it’s a foreign place, then maybe you could give learning the local language a shot during the bus ride. No, you don’t have to master it. A few commonly spoken words are all you need to know to communicate with the local residents and get your message conveyed.
You could also learn the language through some videos, so browse through some good tutorials and  download them beforehand. Or you could buy a language guidebook.

Read a book

One of the things that we love to do the most, not just on coaches, but simply anywhere. Reading is a joy – be it literature, fiction, biography, knowledge or anything else. The world of books is never short of entertainment, and will keep you engrossed till the last page. Either save some favourite books on your Kindle or just get a paperback edition.

Let’s get some work done!

Surprised to see work on our list? You are about to have some fun, away from your routine life, so why do you even need to bother with this? Trust us, it’s not a bad idea or we wouldn’t have put it here. If your employer allows you to work from home, then maybe you should pack up your laptop or save some of your work on your iPhone, and tend to it when on the go. How does this benefit you? You wouldn’t be using up so many of your leaves, then – that’s why. Think about it. It does make sense, right?
And, if leaves aren’t a concern, then you forget all about work, and try out something else from the other options available.

Sleep

Let’s don an eye mask and doze off!

So, let’s book coach holidays now to your favourite destinations! Journey times are no more a concern, because we can indulge in so much, and keep ourselves entertained throughout. And yes, we cut down our costs by huge amounts!
