We love cruises! The atmosphere, the new destinations, the fact you are literally in a moving hotel meaning you only really need to unpack the once and much more. And, because this week is National Cruise Week we thought what better time share our favourites.
- Greek Islands & Olympia Cruise with Lake Garda Stay
Unlike a lot of the cruise holidays we feature at Door2Tour, this one is a bit different as it also features a stay at Lake Garda with excursions to Verona before joining the ship. The cruise itself is run by the well-established Norwegian Cruise Line aboard the Norwegian Jade. Where better to start your cruise than in the Venice floating city of Venice, sail out past St Mark’s Square before setting off on a week long voyage of the Greek Isles. Highlights include the beautiful island of Mykonos, a popular holiday destinations for celebrities looking to catch some sunshine or perhaps the wonderful island of Santorini. With buildings carved into the side of the island, your stop here promises to offer some real Greek culture. With a visit to the ancient sights of Olympia you will see some real ancient history. This cruise is great for first time cruisers and those with experience.
- Treasures of the West Indies
What better way to see all that the Caribbean has to offer than on a cruise. With a new destination every day you can see a much more eclectic mix of the West Indies. The first Caribbean stop of your holiday is in Antigua, with powder white beaches, warm seas and the thriving town of St John’s. Day 16 of the cruise will take you to the tropical island of St Lucia with the twin peaks of the Pitons are famous landmarks. Day 20 will see a visit to Grenada, wander the maze-like streets and visit the harbour of the island’s capital St George’s. Barbados promises to be another highlight in colourful Bridgetown. With many more stops along the way this promises to be a great way to see all things Caribbean!
Join the Magellan as she sails into the Baltic, with six striking capitals to explore, this cruise promises to deliver. First stop is wonderful Amsterdam with its picturesque canals and step-gabled buildings. Following a relaxing day at sea, the next stop is wonderful Copenhagen. See the famous statue of the Little Mermaid and watch the world go by from the harbour-side bar in Nyhavn. You’ll also have the chance to visit Berlin and the Estonian capital Tallinn before heading on to the wonderful city of St Petersburg. Fill two days with this fabulous culture, perhaps visit the ballet or the Hermitage Museum. Day 10 you will head to Helsinki and you can explore the Market Hall in Market Square. The last stop will call as Nynshamn with the chance to visit Stockholm, the Swedish capital spans 14 islets and boasts a mix of historic sights and parks.
- Grand British Isles Discovery Cruise
What better way to see our country than to cruise around its shores! Departing from London Tilbury, you’ll head North towards Scotland. The first stop will allow you to enjoy the wonderful sights of the Highlands and perhaps Inverness. The next stop will be in Kirkwall, the historic capital of the Orkney Islands. The following day the Magellan anchors off Stornoway, the capital of Lewis. Perhaps take an excursion to the Callanish Standing Stones which are thought to be around four thousand years old. Another day, with this time a visit to the Isle of Mull before heading to Ireland. Explore Belfast, where Titanic was built before her fateful maiden voyage. Next you’ll head to Dublin to experience some real Irish hospitality, before arriving in Cobh. The final part of your journey will take you to the Isles of Scilly, St Malo and Honfleur before returning home.
- Canaries & Madeira Cruise
If you fancy escaping to sunnier climes, then why not head to the Canary Islands on a cruise. Sail from London Tilbury and spend a few relaxing days at sea before stopping in the tiny British Territory of Gilbraltar, ride the cable car to the top of the rock and take in the tremendous views. On Day 7 you will dock in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, with its famous black sandy beaches and warm waters will allow you to spend an enjoyable day. Next stop, Las Palmas is the gateway to Gran Canaria, before heading on to Santa Cruz in Tenerife the following day. 500 miles off the coast of Africa, Madeira is one of the most beautiful islands with fabulous exotic flora, a visit to the Botanical Gardens should be high on any visitor’s agenda. As the Magellan begins its journey home, a stop in Lisbon from where many adventurers start their journeys during the age of exploration is the perfect place to end. Enjoy the last stop before two more leisurely days at sea and your arrival back in Tilbury.
