Thursford is a small, rural village, located several miles away from the nearest major town. The closet neighbours to this place are the Great and Little Snoring villages. Despite being so tiny, why is this village so famous? Yes, it is because of its fine collection of antique Wurlitzers and traction engines, but there is a much bigger reason. Yes, you guessed it! Their Christmas show!
What started off from a from a local farm shed with only 50 attendees 41 years ago is now regarded as the largest Christmas event in Europe. Every year, the show is attended by over 180,000, all of whom have an incredible time in this tiny little village.
The Thursford Christmas Spectacular show features a number of performances that are scheduled between 2 pm and 7 pm, beginning 8th of November this year. Over 120 professionals take part, and fill the air with music, humour and excitement. And oh, there is delicious food to enjoy as well. Celebrations are usually fast paced, featuring current chart toppers as well as traditional carols.
Other than the show, there are a number of attractions at Thursford, such as Santa’s Magical Journey which all the children love. The trip begins on the outskirts of a forest where your child and you are greeted by polar bears and penguins. Upon moving into the forest, you are going to pass huge teddies that drive Santa’s sleighs and a number of elves who are busy in wrapping up toys at a tiny, little factory. You will meet a number of interesting characters along the way, until you reach at Santa’s house where he greets your kids and you, and present the little ones with gifts.
Door 2 Tour offers a number of tours to Thursford Christmas show throughout the festive season.
