Nothing beats coach holidays to Spain, the wonderful culture, history and of course the year round sunshine all play a part in attracting thousands of people each year. We thought we would take a look at a selection of coach and air holidays available and see just what great opportunities are available when travelling to this country.
Barcelona, Montserrat and the Pyrenees
From a base in the Costa Brava this popular holiday by air includes guided tours to Barcelona and Montserrat, with an opportunity to tour the Catalan Pyrenees in France too. The tour of Barcelona will offer the chance to view some of Gaudi’s modernista architecture, the medieval Gothic Quarter and the famous Las Ramblas. You can also enjoy a cable car ride to the Olympic sites. The visit to the stunning monastery of Montserrat is included on day 3, accessible by winding road or cable car the views at the top are said to be outstanding. With an optional excursion to the catalan city of Girona with free time to explore the Cathedral cool cloisters and well preserved Jewish Quarter. The final included excursion is a drive through the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees. This trip is great for travellers who are wishing to take in the cultural side of the country.
Seville, Granada and Classic Spain
The southern province of Andalucia is a popular holiday destination, known for being the home of Flamenco dancing, Andalucia is one of Europe’s most wonderful cities set against a mountainous background and sun-blessed coastline. The first included excursion on this trip will take you to Seville, the sleepy city of squares fringed with orange trees and attractions including the Giralda Tower are sure to introduce a different type of Spanish culture. Day three is an optional excursion to Cordoba, a former Moorish and Roman capital with a huge mosque called Mezquita in the centre. Day four will see a tour through the countryside to the city of Ronda, with its maze of narrow streets and renaissance houses. On the final day you will journey to the great city of Granada, enjoy a guided tour of Alahambra with its beautiful gardens.
Santander and Green Spain
This wonderful break is based on the Cantabrian coast or Costa Verde. The first full day of your holiday would take you to Santander, a wonderful beach side resort with a restored old town some distance away you’ll have a short tour before some free time to explore the port. There are also optional excursions to Laredo, Castro Urdiales and Burgos – perfect for those looking to see a little more of the culture. The final included excursion of the break takes you to the Picos de Europa National Park with its range of jagged peaks, gorges and river valleys. Take the Fuente De cable car and enjoy the spectacular views from a height too!
Discover the wonderful city of Madrid, the vibrant capital of Spain on this great 6 day break by air. The first excursion of the holiday will be a walking tour of the Spanish Capital including seeing sights of Calle Major, the main street, and the Palacio Real. Day three would be exploring the city of Toledo, with the El Greco House and the fascinating Juderia (Jewish Quarter), you will have the rest of the day to explore under your own steam. On day four you will see the UNESCO-listed city of Segovia with its winding alleyways and and gothic cathedral before continuing on to Salamanca. The final full day allows you to see the highlights of Salamanca on a walking tour. The city is famed for being a treasure-chest of Baroque buildings and great cathedrals.
Costa Brava Express
See the sunny side of Spain, combine relaxation with exploration as we head to the ever-popular Costa Brava located in the North-East corner of Spain. With included excursions to Playa d’Aro and then on to Tossa de Mar, there is plenty of shops and a medieval castle to explore. The second excursion takes in the catalan city of Girona located half way between the mountains and the sea. Explore the gothic cathedral of Placa de la Indepencia one of the most popular areas of Girona.
