Its well reem in Reims

Reims CathedralNo, I am not a fan of TOWIE, but thought that this would make a great title! As a Product Manager, I recently went on several business trips, covering nearly 5000 miles of driving, visiting 22 towns across 5 European countries! Needless to say I saw a lot of different places but one place stood out against them all! I was accompanied by a colleague for my last trip and we stayed in Reims one night. Instead of it being the usual never get to spend time in the actually place we are in, we had some leisure time in Reims and came to the conclusion of – Wow this is a great French City! So I thought I would pass on just the Top 4 things to See or Do that will whet your appetite for why this is a must visit for anyone!

Champagne
Reims is located in the Champagne Ardenne Region and with a choice of 10 Champagne House’s to visit you may have to bring some Bubbles back to the UK! We went to the Pommery Estate on the outskirts of central Reims, which offers some great different packages depending on how much time to have to visit and how many kinds of fizz you wish to try.

Cathedral
The impressive Reims Cathedral is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. Stunning stain glass windows and 13th century gothic art is interesting to learn how as well as the history of this being a Cathedral where many French Kings were crowned. In the evenings there are sometimes light shows projected onto the Cathedral which is a mesmerising sight in itself.

Shopping
Reims has everything from high street H&M to designer French boutique shops and the well know Galleries Lafayette
which is centred around the main tram road of Rue de Vesle but with many other shops to discover in arcades and side streets. Make sure you have your credit card with you!

Restaurants and Café life
Head over to Place Drouet d’Erlon which is in central Reims to either grab a quick snack in one of the typically French Cafes or choose from the many fine dining French restaurants also situated here. Eating al fresco is normal especially if the weather is dry and a spot of people watching is a must!

Reims is also well located for a short break with only a 3-4 hour driving distance from Calais, so I will be popping back again for a personal trip very soon!
What do you think, will you be visiting Reims anytime soon?
