F1 British Grand Prix 2017

Grand PrixHistory

After winning in the French Grand Prix, Henry Segrave came up with the idea of the British Grand Prix in 1926. Coincidentally enough, the first race, held at the Brooklands circuit, was won by a French team, consisting of Louis Wagner and Robert Senechal.

The Brooklands circuit was actually the first race track and airfield to be built in the United Kingdom. However, after World War 2, the Brooklands Circuit was left completely wrecked and hence was no longer able to remain in use. After Brookland’s wreckage, the Grand Prix was later moved to Silverton Circuit, Northamptonshire where it was rotated with Aintree and Branchedhat but was later moved permanently to Silverton Circuit.
