For those of you who don’t know, Blackpool Illuminations is a light festival that takes place annually and was founded back in 1879. The event takes place at the seaside resort of Blackpool that is located at the Fylde Coast in Lancashire.  The event takes place from August to November for sixty six days, and hundreds of people visit it. According to several people it is the best lightshow in the world. In 2016, the Blackpool Illuminations took place from the 2nd of September to the 6th of November.

History of Blackpool Illuminations

When the show began in 1879, it was known as the artificial sunshine and back then consisted of only eight carbon arc lamps. With time, more and more things were added to the festival every year.

  • Sarah Myerscough is the artist in Ali Baba, Alice in Wonderland, Concertina Critters, Decodance, Dr Who, Egyptian Tableau, Pirate Tableau, Reborn, Venus (from 2005 to present).
