The Royal Ascot is one of the grandest events of the sporting calendar and in the social network. It’s all about horses, fancy hats, lovely dresses, stunning looks and being posh. Even the Queen takes out time to attend the races.
So how many races take place? They are 15 in all that are spread though out the week; the event lasts for 5 days. Some of the races in Group 1 are prestigious including the King’s Stand Stakes and the St James Palace Stakes.
Glancing at history, Ascot dates back to 300 years when it was first established in the year 1711 by Queen Anne herself.
So when done the Ascot take place?
The 2018 races begin on Tuesday, June 19 and end on Saturday, June 23. Choose to go for a day or a whole week, that all depends on you, but don’t miss out the Ladies day in any case. It’s grand with a capital G.
Where do the races take place?
All races are conducted at the Ascot Racecourse which is set in the beautiful and lush Berkshire countryside right next to the Windsor Great Park.
What should you expect?
Sports of course, and along with that glamour, style and class. The Royal Procession begins at 2 pm on the first day when the Queen arrives in elegant, horse carriages, a tradition that is being practiced since 1852. You’d definitely want to watch this so do head off to the venue early so that you can save yourself a good spot. The races begin at 2.30 pm, filling the air with excitement and thrill.
What should you wear?
Definitely not jeans and tees. Grab your favourite designer dress and look your best.
