Andre Rieu is a Dutch musician who is known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. He is the reason why waltz has been turned into a worldwide concert touring act. Rieu started studying violin when he was five and went on to create the Maastricht Salon Orchestra in 1978 and Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1988. Rieu is an inspiration to many and has several honours to his name that include Honorary Medal of the Province of Limburg (Netherlands, 2009), Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion (Netherlands, 2002), and the Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France, 2009).
