It’s scary how quickly Christmas comes around each year and with only 38 days to go until the big day we thought we’d suggest some ideas for what to get the woman in your life. Forget the old clichés of perfume, jewellery and clothes – how about a trip somewhere far more exciting.
London International Horse Show
The annual London International Horse Show always proves to be a hit each year with a spectacular display of dressage, carriage riding, show jumping and much more. Not only is there lots to watch, there is also a great selection of market stalls and stands meaning there is plenty to see and do for any horsey-fan.
Royal Ascot
Another annual event in the social calendar, Royal Ascot is a great day out in the height of summer. Each year the famous ‘Ladies Day’ occurs on the Thursday with a great selection of hats and fascinators worn by the crowds. With the Royal Procession kicking off proceedings at 2pm, you are bound to have a great day out. Those who upgrade their tickets to the Grandstand can also access the parade ring and after race party.
Chelsea Flower Show
Often nicknamed the greatest flower show on earth Chelsea Flower Show kicks off the Flower Show season each year. As always there will be a spectacular display of flora and fauna with a chance to see some show-stopping gardens and exhibitors. There will be plenty of experts on hand to provide help and advice on those garden worries back home.
Brussels Flower Carpet
The Brussels Flower Carpet is a special event which only takes place once every two years, the Grand Place Square which is transformed into a mass of colour. Months of planning goes into creating the Brussels Flower Carpet, which is made up of thousands and thousands of Bergonias.
Edinburgh Military Tattoo
The annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a favourite of many, set in the grounds of the historic Edinburgh Castle. See a wonderful display of military bands, dare-devil motorcycle routines, dance displays, music and breath-taking re-enactments. With trips including outings to places such as Gretna Green and York.
Downton Abbey
With the adventures of the Crawley family almost finished (Except from the Christmas special), a visit to Downton Abbey (formerly known as Highclere Castle) may be just what the Doctor ordered for those suffering withdrawals.
