Bucket List Cruise Holidays

Fjords and Cruise ShipIt’s hard to believe that this weekend will mark 100 years since the RMS Titanic set out on its maiden voyage to New York but never arrived as the ship hit an iceberg and sank. With this in mind, and because cruise holidays appear to be hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons, we thought we’d take a look at some of the cruises out there that should most definitely appear somewhere on your bucket list. As we mark the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic, we’ve noticed that Cruise holidays are certainly getting a bit of bad press instead of focusing on the positives such as great value for money, wonderful cuisines, vibrant entertainment and the endless array of ports to visit. So check out our Bucket List for some ideas…

Panama Canal
Almost 100 years since its completion, the Panama Canal remains one of the greatest feats of engineering and is often referred to as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’. If you head out on a Panama Canal Cruise, you’ll enjoy a truly exhilarating experience as you watch six immense locks raise the ship by 85ft from sea level. These cruises are rarely restricted to the Panama Canal and will tend to be combined with The Caribbean or Mexican Ports. So anybody on a Panama Canal Cruise can also get to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean islands, rainforests, Mayan ruins and other Mexican resorts as well as learning about the history of how the Panama Canal came about! The cruise season for the Panama Canal runs from September to April and the best time to visit is after the rainy season ends in November.

Alaska
Nothing beats cruising in the amazing ice kingdom that is Alaska with its snow-capped mountains, glaciers and vibrant tundra that is home to a diverse range of wildlife. An Alaska cruise is probably your best chance to see grizzly bears and humpback whales surviving in their natural habitat. The majority of cruises here call at the Hubbard Glacier which is the largest tidewater glacier in Alaska. From here you will witness some amazing views that will stay in your memory forever.

Caribbean
Lie back and relax man as you embark on a fascinating cruise around the delightful Caribbean Islands. If you’re looking for the perfect Robinson Crusoe getaway, you’ll be spoilt for choice with a cruise around the Caribbean from the private islands of Mayreau to old favourites such as Barbados, Bermuda and Antigua. Not only does the sun shine all year round but all the islands are lush and green with many exciting places to visit. You can take part in jeep safari’s through tropical rainforests, swim with stingrays in the Cayman Islands, spot whales & dolphins or go river tubing. Not forgetting the wide range of snorkelling and diving opportunities to experience.

Round The World
This is quite simply the ultimate holiday experience that everyone should have before they leave this mortal Earth. Here’s your chance to follow in the footsteps of some of the world’s greatest explorers as you cram in as many exciting and exotic locations of the world as you possibly can. If you’re looking for a cruise that takes you to all four corners of the world without the hassle of finding accommodation at every stop, a world cruise is definitely for you! Combine the awe-inspiring mountains of Alaska with the islands of Caribbean paradise, soak up the culture in Europe, trek the jungles of South Africa and relax on the beach in Far East. This really is a cruise of dreams and one that everyone should experience at least once!
