Harrogate has many historic buildings and verdant gardens waiting for you to explore. A trip here can include a venture to an antique shop, a visit to the Turkish baths and an indulgence lunch in the famous Betty’s tearoom.
Buttertubs Pass
Take an excursion to the Buttertubs pass and if you’re afraid of heights be grateful the coach driver is driving as some of the roads are not for the faint hearted. The pass is a high road which winds its way north from Simonstone to Hawes towards Thwaite and Muker past 20 metre-deep 66ft limestone potholes called the Buttertubs. It is said that their name comes from when farmers would rest their on their way to market. This is a beautiful drive with some really impressive roads.
Grassington
Grassington is worth a visit. It is a beautiful market town and civil parish in Upper Wharfdale. It boasts stunning scenery but there is far more to it than that. There is a real sense of history here, friendly pubs, great shops and an array of very welcoming locals all of which will add to your perfect trip. There is the Grassington festival and 1940’s weekend to enjoy depending on the time of your trip both not to be missed. Not to mention numerous lovely places to eat and plenty of cosy accommodation.
Richmond
Richmond sits just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park going there for your coach holiday is beautiful, architecturally-rich towns in the North eat of England. It is dominated by Richmond Castle which holds the position on a cliff high above the River Swale. The old town huddles beautifully around the castle and its imposing walls. The town is crammed with many independent shops and wonderful places to eat and drink.
There are also some superb walks from the town itself so if you fancy getting active in the fresh air this is the perfect place for you.
