The Attire

When deciding on your attire ensure you keep within the dress code for your enclosure. Some of the enclosures do have colour restrictions.

Gentleman

Gentleman should adopt smart clothing, preferably a suit and tie to better blend in with the general attire that others will have chosen:

-Wear either a grey or black dress that is complete with a waistcoat and tie.

-Shoes must be black.

-Hats have to be worn that are either grey or black colour.

-However, they can be removed at a private box or club.

Ladies

Ladies have far greater flexibility, the general trend is a dress and hat, try not to wear anything too extravagant if you are booked into the Royal Enclosure:

-Skirts and dresses should be of an appropriate length that reach the knees or longer.

-The straps of all tops and dresses should be at least one inch in width.

-Pashminas and jackets are allowed, but the attire underneath should still meet the dress code.

-Trousers are permissible if their length is full.

-Jumpsuits can also be worn if they are full length.

-Hats are often the center piece of the dress so be adventurous!

Parking

There are just over 8,000 parking spaces available at the Ascot Racecourse, be sure to arrive early as the surround roads do get very busy and you will find a parking place much more relaxed. Alternatively, take a coach for a hassle-free morning.

The Picnic

There are many options to have a grand breakfast in the elegant grounds itself; you’ll find plenty of options within the venue to be chosen from. If you arrive early, have a quick look around to see where suits you best as at lunch these areas fill up quickly.

Betting

There are a few ways to bet, you can pop down to the main track and places bets directly through the bookkeeper or you can use an online app. Using the app will give you live updates and odds including a broader selection of betting tactics, however, going direct through one of the bookkeepers gives you a better overall experience in our opinion.

What should you expect?

The Royal Procession begins at 2 pm on the first day when the Queen arrives in elegant, horse carriages, a tradition that is being practiced since 1852. So you will want to head off early to the venue so that you can save yourself a good spot. The races begin at 2.30 pm, filling the air with excitement and thrill and atmosphere.
